Sons of Korah Concert

Citation
Rarely do we have an opportunity with such a rare style of music. The Sons of Korah will we hosting a concert here at Hans-On Music Lounge Friday, April 1st. Tickets will be $10 at the door.

Not many people have heard a style like these guys, and rightly so because they attempt to mimic an ancient arrangement from over 1500 years ago. The songs are based off of the psalms. "Psalms have traditionally been sung to various types of music including plainsong or Gregorian chant; polyphonic settings; hymn tunes, often using a rhyming paraphrase; and Anglican chant. Nowadays psalms are set to all manner of music from folksongs to rock to reggae." (Video) Sometimes the normal music in this world is tiresome, and hearing these guys is different, but so enjoyably so.

If your up for something that is unlike anything you have ever heard, and yet is incredibly beautiful, come hear them with us.

All Over the Map!

Citation
It's about time we share our progress with you. Last week we had one of our students(Carter) on our podcast. We had an outstanding about of listeners and a bunch of new students came and started taking lessons here. Carter was a huge hit! the only problem is that he's only one student with a guitar. One story doesn't tell it all.

We will be having recitals here on Wednesday March 23, at 6pm, and we're going to make it open to the public. Come on over to see how our students have come along. There will be piano, flute, guitar, lute, banjo and so much more. The students are a wide, but skillful variety. We'll serve hot mocha cappuccinos along with sodas and light snacks. We'll also have a drawing for a Zebrawood Luna Guitar.

Oh... and if you have an instrument to sell, come talk to us.

Yesterday's Failures, Today's Musicians!

Citation
You know... there are many options for music teachers today, but fewer and fewer students are responding to the usual ways of music teaching. Dropout music students simply don't seem to understand the theory and details of music sheets and papers. They get discouraged and give up on music when they are told that because of an "inability in one aspect of music" they have no musical talent.

This was the case with my student, Carter.
He sadly had resolved that he had little talent at all (although he had the basics understood very well). However after Danny Phelpson spoke here a few weeks ago, Carter quickly found that there are alternative ways to learn guitar. I started teaching him in my own classic "hands on" way, and he took off like jet with his musical ability. I spoke with him on my Podcast, and he had an incredible turnaround in a matter of weeks! He's a natural. Here's a song we recorded with him: click here

So many of our students are wearing and tearing guitars into pieces as they play extremely complex things. Not just guitar, but mandolin, banjo, piano, and electric guitars as well. Yes, these "musical failures" are working their way into stage performance. Our efforts are working, and we would love to share them with you. Come and see us. We can help you no matter where you're at.

The Heartbeat Behind the Music

We have all seen the meaningless re-posts on social media about people who do little things for society and they film themselves as they do it. Sadly, the reality is that the people who give selflessly often go unnoticed. The American Red Cross has passed on selfless donations of blood from many men and women in America. Their names are not going viral over Facebook or anything like that, but they don't care. These are the people who deserve our heartfelt thanks. You don't go unnoticed by us at Hans-On.

In celebration of all that the American Red Cross and their donors has done, Danny Felpson, Don Hanson, Ben Richardson, and other teachers will be hosting a Concert here at Hans-On. We'll give a Red Cross T-shirt to the first 20 guests. Tickets are $20 and all the profits will be donated to American Red Cross. Come show your support on Friday, March 4th at 6:00pm. Your visit can keep hearts beating. We look forward to seeing you!

Coffee and donuts will be served in the lobby.

Living the Aventures at "Reel to Real"

Good film makers are very hard to come by, but the number one goal of any film maker (at least, in my eyes) is that they take you to the scene they are showing. But you know, you can't really go there, because it's just a film... or can you?
My perceptions of such were crushed after a exhilarating adventure at a "Press Play" event at "Reel-to-Real Adventures" The beautiful places from many films we have seen brought us into the scenes of our favorite films!
Our team was looking for a good way to take a break from constant music, because as we all know, too much sitting begins to dull musical creativity. Music has to take you places, and in order for that to happen, you have to be able to go to the places were your music is trying to bring you.
The highland scenes immediately caused me to hear roaring bagpipes echoing through my mind. The team started looking into DADGAD Celtic tuning, dulcimers, flutes, and bagpipes right after the event. The Lounge has turned into the same adventuresome scenes we saw at Reel to Real. Sounds like the highlands in there.
L.C. Mackie came to the lounge after our visit to the "Press Play", and immediately was welcomed by the team members. He sees the importance of music in film making, and because of that, he's best friends with our team.
Long and short of it, go live the adventure!

Guitar Teaching Guest at Hans-On

Citation
Want an electric guitar lesson that will change the way you play guitar forever? You don't know a avid guitarist until you meet Danny Felpson! Danny will be coming to Hans-On Music Lounge on Wednesday 2/17 and will be doing a seminar on "Inspiring Music". Non-musicians will become avid ones after hearing this guy. He's got more tips than most guitarists I know. Danny's seminar will begin at 7pm. Prizes and drawings will be offered at the door.
Says Danny, "In August of 2012, I turned down a full-time position at the Colorado Conservatory of Music in order to keep my lesson studio and program completely independent. I am currently the founding instructor and director of the Rock And Pop Club at the Colorado Conservatory of Music."
Refreshments will be served after 9pm. Believe me, you don't want to miss this!
